Positive Participation: People Living with HIV/AIDS in the Labour Force
Fact Sheet for AIDS Service Organizations: This fact sheet provides an overview of the different barriers that often hinder a person living with HIV/AIDS from becoming or remaining employed. It also identifies facilitators that can help overcome these barriers, in an effort to help community-based organizations, including AIDS service organizations, to better understand the employment needs of their clients and to identify gaps in service provision and systems level action.
Fact Sheet for Employers: This fact sheet provides an overview of the different workplace barriers that can hinder an employee living with HIV/AIDS from working to his or her full potential. It also identifies facilitators that can help overcome these barriers, in an effort to help employers to retain qualified, experienced staff, and build a healthy, diverse and productive workplace.
Fact Sheet for Those Engaged in Policy Work: This fact sheet provides an overview of the different barriers that can hinder a person living with HIV/AIDS from entering or remaining in the labour force. It also identifies facilitators that can help overcome these barriers, in an effort to help policy-makers at all levels to better identify and understand the gaps in relevant legislation and policy.
Workplace Surveys
COCQ-SIDA (Coalition des organismes communautaires québécois de lutte contre le sida) is a coalition of AIDS community organizations in Quebec and has conducted two surveys, one among the Quebec population and the other among Quebec employers, in order to identify attitudes and behaviours in the Quebec workplace towards persons living with HIV or living with another chronic or episodic illness.
