With many people with HIV living longer and facing a multitude of health challenges related to HIV, concurrent health conditions, as well as the side effects of treatment, the role for rehabilitation in the context of HIV continues to grow. This E-Module for Evidence-Informed Rehabilitation (e-module) is a comprehensive resource on HIV and rehabilitation for rehabilitation professionals and others to respond to this increasing need.

Interprofessional course for rehabilitation professionals

Continuing educational opportunities for rehabilitation professionals continue to evolve at the Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation. CWGHR’s Interprofessional Learning (IPL) course for Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists has been on offer in select cities across Canada for a number of years bridging the world of HIV, disability and rehabilitation. While this course will continue to be offered, CWGHR is pleased to announce its adaptation to an online version. Now, clinicians from across Canada can access information related to rehabilitation in the context of HIV from the comfort of their home, office or anywhere the internet can be accessed.

The content of the course covers a basic introduction to HIV, HIV as it relates to disablement issues, the framework for working within the realm of HIV, sensitive practice issues, and the role for rehabilitation in care, prevention, treatment and support. This course features an evidence based approach, problem based learning and opportunities for clinical queries regarding HIV and rehabilitation in an interactive format.
